About Us

Seach Widens Staff

 (Angela, Roberta, Jamie)

We have been in business since 1983. Our production is done primarily in India and Nepal. We have worked with many of our suppliers for the past twenty years, and are grateful to be able to work with such fundamentally good and decent people who are committed to providing good wages and working conditions for their workers.  We are passionately interested in educating consumers about the importance of purchasing fairly traded products.

We now have thirteen sales reps throughout  America, and sell to over 700 retail stores, including women’s clothing stores, galleries, museum stores, and metaphysical bookstores. Please see our customer comments which endorse our commitment to providing excellent customer service and continuing to find ways in which we can all support and encourage each others’ growth and prosperity.

Please call 866 865 5757 to schedule an appointment with one of our sales representatives. Besides all of the items in our catalogue, our reps often carry special one-of-a-kind pieces.  All of our reps are extremely personable and knowledgeable, as well as being (best of all) not pushy!  We are very interested in personalizing our services to find out what it is that works best for your store.  It is as important to us to have great relationships with our customers as it is to do business.

The strength of our line continues to be the enormous variety of excellent quality semi-precious gemstones—many of which are unusual—which we use in our jewelry, as well as the fact that many of our designs are original. As we sell to such a great variety of different types of stores, our designs range from ethnic to contemporary. All of the items in our current catalogue have been tested in the market, and we invite you to be the beneficiaries of our 21 years of experience studying jewelry to find out what sells!

A portion of our profits goes to support the Tibetan Childrens' Foundation which is based here in Montana. Here is a photo of Tenzin, a wonderful little boy who lives at a hostel our foundation has built called Kyitseling (named by the Dalai Lama and which means "place of happiness") which is in a Tibetan refugee settlement in northern Indian in a town called Clementown.

In a recent letter, Tenzin wrote, "Our half yearly exams are over but results are not out yet. But I am sure that I pass because I worked really hard. Recently at our school we celebrated teachers' day. It was so much fun. We started our preparation for three or four days before, and presented teachers with gifts and dance/song presentation. All the teachers like it so mch!" Tenzin is a gifted artist and loves to draw, as well as decorating his letters with beautiful flowers and symbols.

If you are interested in sponsoring one of these kids (we also sponsor "grandparents"--older people who do not have any failies to supprt them) please check out www.tibetanchildrenseducation.org. For a mere $45 a month you can make an enormous difference in someone's life.

We also sponsor a Tibetan nun, Jamyang Dolma, as part of the Tibetan Nuns' Project (www.tnp.org). This project was born in January 1991 when a group of 66 refugee nuns appeared overnight on the streets of Dharamsala, India. They had been on a two year pilgrimage from eastern Tibet that culminated in a journey over the Himalayas. Ill and Exhausted, they had nowhere to go. The Tibetan Women's Association organized emergency assistance for these women and the Nuns Project was formed to find a long-term solution for these women. Many of them were imprisoned and tortured for several years by the Chinese. $30 a month will provide housing, medical care, and education for one of these needy women.

We are members of the Fair Trade Federation, an association of fair trade wholesalers, retailers, and producers who are committed to providing fair wages to low-income artisans. We are interested in educating consumers about the importance of purchasing fairly traded products which support decent wages and safe working conditions for workers in the Third World. We encourage you to support Fair Trade as well. In working together we can all make a difference!

We hope you enjoy our wonderful jewelry as much as we do!

 Warm regards,
